 1)  If you are playing an outdoor gig, using a generator, make sure the generator is sufficient to power all your live sound  gear.

2)   Watch your volumes. Pay attention to red light indicators. Distorting speakers can damage your equipment if turned very loud to compensate for your outdoor venue.  Sound in a club is totally different from outdoors; you need more power to run live sound outdoors.  Listen for distortion, and adjust your system.

3)  Keep an eye on your amplifiers. In hot weather, amplifiers are more likely to overheat. Make sure the cooling  fans on your amps are working properly. Try installing a cooling fan rack like the Road Ready RRCF4.  Or leave a rack space between amplifiers for better air circulation.

4)      If it rains, immediately cover your live sound gear  to prevent damage to equipment or danger to personal safety. Speakers made of particle wood, even though covered in water proof material, may bubble and warp over time. Remember you are running live sound equipment pushing high wattages, which should never be exposed to water.

According to Armando Garcia in the live sound repair shop, the three most common problems during outdoor performances are blowing speakers due to overdriving,  getting feedback and loud pops because a sound check was not done in advance, and connecting mics  or instruments while the system is already powered up.
